Collector’s choice

2020. 03. 19.

A collection always evolves around a system, either in case of toys from kinder eggs or beermats, it aspires to reach perfection. On several occasions this process is preceded by an observation phase, while the collector finds the focal points important for them, and develops the collection’s system of criteria based on different parameters.

At the same time collecting different things to some extent defines people’s everyday lives as well. We collect litter, we collect money, loyalty points, memories, moments on various virtual storages or in the nightstand’s drawer. It has become an everyday action so that we don’t even recognise this process anymore.

We can collect endless kinds of things, the title ‘collector’ however is in use only in a few cases.

Ottó Bauer pressman, collector founded SIREX Contemporary Art Collection in 2008 which collects significant local and regional artworks ranging from neoavartgarde to contemporary.
